UCU Lady Cardinals are one game closer to sealing their place in the FUFA Women Super League playoffs after grabbing a late win against Isra Soccer Academy.
The match was goalless until skipper Hasifa Nassuna gave the Cardinals a lead in the 79th minute.
Isra Soccer Academy seemed to be an improved side having dominated the first half denying UCU a chance to score.
UCU lacked a center forward to give them a drive going forward hence not having many scoring opportunities. Despite their tireless efforts the few chances were ruled offside.
However, UCU Defender Shadia Nankya who turned into a striker in the second half, brought more pressure to the game hence creating more chances for the cardinals which saw them take the lead in the half.
Teddy Najjuma scored the second goal for the cardinals in the 82nd minute from a corner kick.
Hasifa Nassuna grabbed her brace in the dying minutes of the game enabling her team collect maximum points giving them hope of progressing to the playoffs.
Nassuna’s brace lifts her tally to 91 goals in the League since 2015 when she was at Kawempe Muslim Ladies.
In three games now, UCU has 6 points and will face Olila High School on Saturday for the final group game.
Isra has conceded the most goals in the tournament, bringing the tally to 11 goals after their 3-0 loss to UCU Lady Cardinals. The team will play their final game against She Corporate which will end the group fixtures.
