New York Red Bulls II Extend Steven Sserwadda’s Contract Through 2026.

The New York Red Bulls II have officially announced a two-year contract extension for Ugandan midfielder Steven Sserwadda, keeping him with the team through the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season, pending visa and registration approval.
“We are happy to have Steven [Sserwadda] back with the squad,” said Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya. “He is a hardworking midfielder who fits well into our system and brings valuable experience to the team.”
Sserwadda has been a standout performer for Red Bulls II over the past three seasons, appearing in 41 matches, scoring four goals, and contributing two assists.
He netted his first MLS NEXT Pro goal on April 21, 2024, against Philadelphia Union II and recorded his first assist on September 1, 2024, against Carolina Core FC. The midfielder debuted for the club on October 16, 2021, during a USL Championship match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
A native of Kampala, Uganda, Sserwadda has also made two appearances for the New York Red Bulls’ first team, logging 27 minutes. He made his Major League Soccer debut on June 30, 2022, against Atlanta United FC under a short-term loan from Red Bulls II.
On the international stage, Sserwadda has earned four caps for the Uganda National Team, amassing 210 minutes. His senior debut came on March 25, 2022, in a match against Tajikistan.
At the youth level, he was instrumental in Uganda’s U-20 and U-23 teams, particularly during the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, where he scored twice and helped his country achieve a second-place finish.
Before joining the Red Bulls organization, Sserwadda played for Kampala Capital City Authority FC in the Ugandan Premier League, where he contributed to the club’s success in winning the league title, the Uganda Cup, and the CECAFA Clubs Cup.
This extension follows the recent contract renewal of his fellow countryman and teammate Ibrahim Owen Kasule. Sserwadda’s new deal underscores Red Bulls II’s confidence in his abilities and highlights his growing importance to the team’s long-term plans.
