OBB volleyball club host the National club championship 2022.
2 min readThe Volleyball National Club championship happens once a year and the winner from the men’s side and women’s side are expected to represent the country on the club’s continental level.
This year’s games were being hosted by the volleyball league champions Orange block busters (OBB) at the Shukran camp center in Iganga district.
On the 1st of May 2021, the Orange Block busters lifted the league trophy in their debut season at the Old Kampala arena after defeating 6 times champion Nemo stars 3:1.
“We have decided not to only centralize championship as last year we were in Kabale district and this year we are in Iganga district. The nation will come to know that volleyball is one of the biggest sport.” vice president of the Ugandan Volleyball association, Mr kiggundu Ahmed Abdullah.
The Championship was a two days activity that started on Saturday 3rd of September 2022 and came to its climax on Sunday 4th of September. Over 20 volleyball clubs participated in the competition.
OBB men’s side played 3 games in the group stages, won all and they qualified for the quarter-finals.
The quarters, semis, and finals were played on Sunday.
The OBB queens qualified for the semi-finals that took place on Sunday.
Both the OBB men’s and women’s teams qualified for the finals. The men took on Sport-S and lost while their counterparts played against sport- S women and won the championship.
