StarTimes UPL Fixtures – KCCA seek to stay top as Vipers eye the summit
Tuesday – Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) continue their plot to extend stay at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with a trip to Kavumba Recreation Ground, Wakiso to take on Soltilo Bright Stars on Tuesday evening.
KCCA are currently on top of the league table with 29 points after 13 games. The kasasiro boys are unbeaten in their last 9 league matches and will be looking to add the tenth against fellow Wakiso side. Byekwaso’s side were 2-1 winners against Busoga United FC at home last Friday.
Bright Stars, who have lost their last two league games to Wakiso Giants (2-0) and Arua Hill (2-1) respectively will be looking for an opportunity to bounce back to winning ways against a tricky opponent. Head coach Asaph Mwebaze believes his side have a chance against the 13 times champions.
“Definitely, we respect KCCA. They are on top of the table. They are perennially challenging for the title but we have also tried to do something this season where we have tried to play very well, tried to be compact, and playing at home, we definitely think we have a chance. We will do what we have been doing although the last two games haven’t given us positive results, but we think this one can actually get us across the line into the second round. By winning against KCCA tomorrow we’ll pick 20 points which is good for a team like ours.” said Mwebaze.
Meanwhile, KCCA head coach Morley Byekwaso expects his side to continue with the team spirit they have had all season so far, especially in the last 9 matches.
“We need to have the team work we have had all season so far. If we can go there and dominate them and create chances than we can pick a positive result on the road.” remarked Byekwaso.
