StarTimes UPL: SC Villa and Busoga United calm down relegation worries.
2 min readSC Villa and Busoga United were both victorious after the Startimes Uganda Premier League matches they played on Wednesday to give them hopes of surviving relegation.
Petros Koukouras boys picked up a 2-1 win over Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in wakiso while Busoga were 1-0 victors over Tooro United.
Elsewhere, the tax collectors Failed to get the maximum 3 points to further close in on leaders Vipers as they were held to a goalless draw with Arua Hill at the Arena of Visions.
While in Wakiso, record 16-time league champions, SC Villa, moved to 25 points which helps them move 4 spots above the relegation zone.
Defender Gift Fred gave the jogoos an early lead in the 8th minute with a header off a Nicholas Kabonge corner.
Moses Aliro squared for Wakiso in the 31st minute of the game.
But Benson Muhindo sealed a win for the jogoos after of converting a penalty in the 59th minute of the game following a foul on Isaac Ogwang in the penalty area.
Simon Namwanja was sent off in the 57th after a dangerous play against Isaac Ogwang.
Villa head coach, Petros Koukouras was also shown a red card in the 61st minute.
In Jinja, Busoga United got a victory against struggling Tooro United with 1-0 win courtesy of Anwar Ntege in the 56th minute of the game.
This win pushed Busoga united up to 12th position of the table with 25 points
Tooro United remained at the bottom of the table with 10 points after 23 matches being played.
