Steven Bogere – Onduparaka appoint former SC Villa boss as new manager

Wednesday – Onduparaka FC have appointed former SC Villa boss Steven Bogere as their new manager on a deal until the end of the season.

Bogere replaces Haruna Mawa, whose appointment turned out more disastrous, with Onduparaka collecting only 2 points in 10 games and the club permanently stayed at the bottom of the table.

“Onduparaka FC announces the appointment of Mr Steven Bogere as Head Coach, effective Tuesday 6th December,2022. We thank the assistant coach for holding forte thus far, we believe his arrival is timely as the management works towards improving performance,” club statement read.

Bogere comes with vast experience having previously managed SC Villa, UPDF, Proline, and now defunct Victoria University.

Bogere succeeds Mawa Haruna, who had failed to turn around the team’s fortunes since being appointed in July. The Caterpillars dropped into the Premier League relegation zone since the season began.

When is Bogere’s first game?

Onduparaka travel to St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende to face Vipers SC on Wednesday, December 7 at 4pm.

‘Bogere & Kalanzi need a reaction from the players’

Hamza Kalanzi, who took over management of the team on interim basis after the silent departure of Mawa Haruna, will continue as assistant to the new manager, Bogere.

The experienced pair will need to get an instant reaction from the players if Onduparaka are to preserve their Premier League status.
