Steven Mukwala impressing in debut season for Ghanaian outfit
Tuesday – Steven Mukwala joined the Ghanian outfit, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, at the start of the 2022/23 from URA FC.
The 2019/2020 Uganda Premier League top scorer signed a two-year contract with the porcupine warriors.
5-months into his contract, Mukwala has had an eye catching season so far.
The 23-year old has scored four goals for Kotoko. The sharp forward has also contributed four assists in 15 games for the Ghanian outfit.
Steven Mukwala scored his first Kotoko goal against King Faisal 3-0 just after ten minutes in the BetPawa Premier League week four fixture.
The Ugandan top striker connected perfectly to Afoakwa’s in-swinging cross to score his first goal in the Ghanaian top-flight.
He becomes the third Ugandan to sign for Asante Kotoko who previously had Joseph Ochaya and George Abege.
Before his departure to Ghana, Mukwala was regarded as one of the most prolific strikers in the Uganda Premier League.
He won the Golden Boot in the 2019/20 season while playing for Maroons.
In the 2019/20 season, Dese scored 13 goals in 23 matches and netted 14 goals in 24 matches the following league campaign.
Then in the 2021/22 season, the striker hit the back of the net with 13 goals in 26 games. He was behind Vipers SC forward Yunus Ssentamu and Erick Kambale from Express FC who registered 16 and 15 goals respectively.
