SUPL: KCCA to face Wakiso giants in their league opener.

The Lugogo-based side will open their first game of the Startimes Uganda premier 2022/23 against the purple sharks at home. They will be aiming at an act of revenge against the sharks who they lost to in the final game of the season at the same venue thanks to a Sharif Kimbowa lone strike.

With their main competitors, Vipers SC picking up a draw against Solito Bright stars in the first game of the season on the 30th of September 2022, KCCA FC will have to fight for the maximum points in today’s fixture.

Allan Okello, Moses Waiswa and Muhammad Shaban, and Emmanuel Waswa will be the key players pointed at to lift the Kasasiro boys who have never lost a game against Wakiso Giants in a league opener for the past three meetings.

The wakiso-based side will start life with John Luyinda as the new head coach on the touchline.

A 1-0 win at the end of the season comes in as a motivation for the visitors as they will be eager and know how to hurt KCCA FC.

Wakiso Giants will be without Goalkeeper Samson Kirya and midfielder Joshua Lubwama who are with the Uganda  Sand cranes team.

KCCA FC will be without Peter Magambo and Herbert Achai who are long-term absentees for the club. However, the rest of the squad is available for selection.

KCCA FC head coach, Morley Byekwaso said this ahead of their first game. “We have had a good pre-season where we have tested all our new players in the build-up games and I believe we are ready for the challenge ahead.”

John Luyinda’s Wakiso Giants head coach is in high spirits that his side will perform better this season than last season.

It’s exciting to see football back, I believe in the preparations we’ve had  and I believe we are ready for not only KCCA FC but the entire season.” 

Playing against KCCA FC is always tough but we are physically and mentally fit and optimistic to pick good results.” 

Our ultimate target is to be more competitive and perform better than the previous season with entertaining football that will give us a backing.” He added.
