TotalEnergies CAF: Al Ahly progress to the Semi Finals of the CAF Champions League

Al Ahly had an early scare in their quest for the Champions League trophy when they conceded 5 minutes into the game.

Al Ahly Midfielder Aliou Dieng lost the ball near the box and Raja Casablanca capitalized from the error to go level on aggregates 2-2 from a well headed goal beating the Egyptian defence.

The away side kept pushing for an equalizer and were awarded a penalty in the 17th minute after a VAR decision but failed to convert through defender Ali Maaloul.

The away side leveled the score from a corner kick, Mohamed Abdelmonem headed the ball into the back of the net and Al Ahly went ahead on aggregates 3-2 keeping their hopes of progressing alive.

The half time score was all square as Raja Casablanca kept asking the Al Ahly defence all sorts of questions to regain the lead.

The defending African Champions were compact in the second half to keep the score line 1-1 and progress to the next stage.

Al Ahly are set to meet Algerian side ES Setif who shocked Esperance Tunis by winning 1-0 on road after a goalless draw in the 1st leg.
