Ugandan defensive Midfielder Taddeo Lwanga has joined Djibouti Premier League reigning champions Arta Solar7.

Lwanga was among the three players that were showed the exit door by Tanzanian Premier League side Simba SC.

“I am glad to join a new team and start a new challenge,” said Lwanga after joining the team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for pre-season training.

Lwanga becomes the second Ugandan in history to feature for the Djibouti side after Sulait Luyima who is the club’s first choice goalkeeper.

Lwanga will play alongside former Arsenal and Barcelona star Alexandre Song, former West Ham striker Diafra Sakho and Burkina Faso’s Alain Traore. The club recently released Cameroon goalkeeper Idris Kameni.

Arta Solar7 will face Al Merreikh (Sudan) in the preliminary round of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

Lwanga previously featured for SC Villa, Express, Vipers SC and Tanta FC (Egypt).
