The Uganda Cubs (U17) men’s national team eyeing a spot in the FIFA U17 World Cup after winning Tanzania 3-0.
After their loss against Morocco in the opening game, The Uganda cubs bounced back with a win against Tanzania at Bashir Mohammedia stadium.
Uganda cubs dominated the opening half, creating chances and taking control of the game, with Isma Magala and captain Richard Okello leading the game.
In the second half, Hussein Ally Mbegu was sent off the pitch leaving the Tanzania gaints with less players.
Simon Wanyama eventually scored his first goal of the tournament in the 61st minute breaking the deadlock.
Okello doubled the Cubs’ lead in the 84th minute, scoring from close range after Bogere’s shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Uganda was awarded a penalty after Tanzanian defender Mohammad Makarani handed the ball. Bogere James calmly sealed Uganda’s win.
Uganda’s World Cup hopes hang in the balance ahead of Sunday’s crucial group finale against Zambia, where a win would guarantee their qualification.
