Uganda Martyrs Edge St. Lawrence to win the Pepsi University Football League

St. Lawrence University suffered a stunning 1-0 defeat at the hands of Uganda Martyrs University in the final of the Pepsi University Football League at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday evening.

Sunny Kaija powerfully headed in the all important goal from a brilliantly executed corner by Joseph Kayondo inside the opening half.

Despite not creating many clear-cut chances, St. Lawrence were in complete control of the match for nearly the first hour.

Uganda Martyrs had barely threatened St. Lawrence’s goal up until that point but after taking the lead, they grew into the match and enjoyed much more control.

The final win was Uganda Martyrs second in the Pepsi University Football League.

This was St. Lawrence’s second consecutive loss in the final of the University League having lost the 2019 final to Mukono side Uganda Christian University.
