Uganda Netball Federation President Babirye Kityo has been granted bail by the Buganda Road Court. Her sureties have been bonded with shs4 million which court said should be paid in the bank before her release.

On Monday, Sarah Babirye and her co-accused Zainab Namutebi, a businesswoman were arraigned before First Grade Magistrate Seyna Owomugisha on the accusation of obtaining money from the complainants Sarah Wamalah and Gloria Kikomeko. The two were sent to Luzira Prisons.
The complainants said that in May 2022, they each gave Babirye shs8 million after she promised to take them to the United States of America, which they confirmed has never happened.

It has also been reported that there are other victims who have preferred to stay silent although want justice to prevail.
The former Youth member of Parliament has been recently been asked to step aside from the presidency of the netball federation as investigations into misappropriation of government funds is conducted.
