3 min readWith Algeria already through to next year’s AFCON tournament that’s taking place in Ivory Coast in January. They have 15 points from five games played in Group F with a 100% win record from the games played in the qualification games.
Algeria welcome Tanzania in Annaba at the Stade 19 Mai 1956 for their last game of the qualifiers. Tanzania are looking for a win to cement their place in Ivory Coast next year.
The first leg ended 2-0 in favor of Algeria, thanks to Bensebani R and Amoura M’s goals at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium last year. They named a strong squad to take on Tanzania and Senegal this month.
Houssem Aouar withdrew from the Algerian squad due to injury.
Tanzania have only played in two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, that’s in 1980 (Nigeria) and 2019 (Egypt), they have never gone passed the group stages in both the appearances they have made and they have recorded only one point and that was in 1980 group stages.
The Taifa Stars coach, Adel Amrouche named a 25 man squad to play against Algeria tomorrow. He called up 8 players who don’t play in the Tanzanian league.
The other teams in Group F are Uganda and Niger. Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic confirmed the final squad that traveled to Morocco for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier match against Niger takes going to place on Thursday 7th September 2023.

Emmanuel Okwi is Uganda’s top scorer with 28 goals in 93 appearances (2009-Present) with Farouk Miya being second with 23 goals in 76 appearances for the National team (2014-Present) after over taking Geoffrey Massa. Will Farouk Miya add to the tally on Thursday?
The last time Uganda played in the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 in Egypt, they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Senegal with Sadio Mane’s goal in the 15th minute, game ended 0-1.
Niger has participated in two Africa Cup of Nations, the 2012 (Gabon and Equatorial Guinea) and 2013 (South Africa) editions and they have never gone past the group stages.
Currently, they have no chance of qualifying to next year’s AFCON tournamnet even if they win against Uganda tomorrow.
