Africa: FIFA World Cup 2026 Preliminary CAF group draw.
2 min readFIFA has drawn 54 African countries into 9 groups with each group having six teams. The draw took place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
This draw will determine the qualification groups for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The teams will play a home and away with each of the winners qualifying automatically for World Cup 2026 tournament.
The best four group runners-up will compete in a play-off stage to decide CAF’s representative at the FIFA play off tournament.
The qualifying matches will take place in November 2023 on the 11th till 14th October 2025 for a period of two years.
Uganda was grouped in Group G along side Algeria, Guinea, Mozambique, Botswana and Somali.
Group B has Senegal that took part in Qatar 2022 World Cup. They will play against DR Congo, Mauritania, Togo, Sudan and South Sudan.
2022 World Cup semi finalists Morocco was drawn in Group E along side Zambia, Congo, Tanzania, Niger and Eritrea.
