CAF Confederations: Bul FC 0-0 Future FC – Eastern Giants Settle For a Draw at Home
2 min readMatch report as Bul FC settle for an unlikely 0-0 draw against visitors Future FC in the first leg of their CAF Confederations (Preliminary round – first leg) at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday evening.
Bul FC were seeking to leave a mark in their maiden appearance in the CAF Confederations Cup by securing a first-leg advantage, and assistant coach Kasule Richard said on the eve of the game that the home side was prioritising this competition.
The Eastern gaints kicked off brightly, securing three corners inside 18 minutes, but none threatened the visitor’s goal.
The visitors bossed possession but did not look at all comfortable during an insipid first half.
The home side became increasingly irate by Future’s approach and the hosts conceded just after half-hour mark as custodian Saidi Keni produced a sublime save to deny the visitors the opening goal.
The two sides came back for the second period with nothing to separate them after full time.
Meanwhile the full-time at Kitende was marred by a fist fight between two Future FC players. Goalkeeper Mahmoud Abdelrehim and midfielder Ahmed El Sayed Reffat fought each other after lengthy verbal exchanges during the second half.
Bul will look to come out on top as the Ugandan side will travel to Egypt for the CAF Confederations (Preliminary round – second leg) that will be played on Saturday 17 September at Cairo International Stadium.
