Crested Cranes step up training ahead of CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship

Uganda Senior Women’s team, the Crested Cranes have stepped up preparations ahead of CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship scheduled to take place between 1st – 11th June 2022 at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

The team is currently training at the hosting grounds, FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru under the management of Head Coach George Lutalo.

8 teams including Uganda have already confirmed participation. Others include; Rwanda, Djibouti, Burundi, Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Sudan, and Ethiopia.

Hon. Nakiwala Kiyingi, the Chairperson Local organizing committee, also the FUFA 3rd Vice President confirmed that Uganda is ready to host the coveted tournament which will be broadcast live on FUFA TV.

Participatig teams will start arriving this week with Djibouti expected on Friday, 27th May, followed by Tanzania on Saturday 28th May.

Nakiwala also confirmed that all COVID-19 SOPs shall be followed before, during and after the tournament.

“We expect that all teams will undergo COVID-19 PCR tests before the start of the tournament and we shall have the same arrangement during and after. As organizers, we don’t want to give any chance and that is why we are sticking to observing the standard operating procedures.” She stated.
