Kyabazinga to grace 5th Edition of Busoga Masazza Cup.

Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV will grace the opening and kick-off this year’s tournament of the Busoga Masazza cup on the 14th May 2022 in kagoma, Busoga Kingdom’s Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muvawala revealed while launching this year’s edition games yesterday 30th April 2022 at the kyabazinga headquarters in Bugembe, Jinja.

The tournament was launched by the Prime Minister of Busoga Kingdom Dr. Joseph Muvawala alongside the official sponsor’s representatives from the different partners; MTN Uganda (Joseph Bogera) and Mayuge Sugar Industries Ltd (Dashan and Francis Baganzi), organizing committee chairman and his team as well as other dignitaries from Busoga Kingdom.

While launching the tournament, Katukiro Muvawala was also accompanied by his First and Second deputies, Prof. Dr. Muhamadi Lubega and Owek. Al-Haji Osman Ahmed Noor respectively.

Katikiro Muvawala cautioned the different teams and their supporters not to tolerate hooliganism during the matches adding that the football matches are for the promotion of unity.

He directed the organizing committee of the Masazza cup through Busoga Kingdom’s Minister of Sports Amin Bbosa to immediately disqualify any team that will be involved in fights.

He urged referees to consider fair play and further advised that teams representing a County should consist of people around the entire County adding that they should not deprive others a chance to participate by selecting a team from a small group.

Muvawala thanked main sponsor MTN Uganda and co-sponsor Mayuge Sugar Industries Ltd for the sh400m and Sh50m financial support respectively, injected in organizing Masazza Cup and urged people to support services of MTN and also buy products manufactured at MSIL.

Busoga Kingdom’s First and Second deputy Prime Ministers, Prof. Dr. Muhamadi Lubega and Owek, Osman Ahmed Noor, commended MTN and MSIL for supporting Kingdom programs wherever they are reached.

MSIL’s Francis Baganzi said they will continue to strengthen the partnership between OBB and MMP group headed by their chairman MagarnBhai Patel.

Baganzi said they will continue supporting interventions initiated by OBB adding that he is waiting for a list of boreholes to be sunk in various chiefdoms of Busoga and they kick start the exercise of provision of safe clean water.

MTN’s Joseph Bogera said MTN will continue supporting development programs started by the Kingdom.

Bogera said MTN has sponsored many programs in Busoga and at National level with the National Football team inclusive and said that they will continue promoting talent exposure and export.

Busoga Kingdom’s Sports Minister Owek. Amin Bbosa said the champions will take home:

a beautiful trophy artistically endowed with Busoga culture features and sh10m, the first runners up will bag sh7m and the second runners up will take home sh5m while the fourth will bag sh3m.

The reigning champions of the Busoga Massaza Cup are kigulu a county based in Iganga district.
