German Platinum Credit Heathens Acquires Away Kit Ahead of Kyadondo Derby.

Uganda’s most successful rugby club, the Kyadondo based Platinum Credit Heathens, has acquired an away kit for the remainder of the Nile Special Rugby Championship.
The 13-time national league winners have been playing all their home and away games in their now famous yellow tops and blue shorts.
The new Heathens away kit was unveiled today at the Fairway Boutique Hotel, in the presence of players, officials, media and fans, much to their astonishment at the most recent work of art on the Ugandan rugby scene.
“The new design, crafted by Kyadondo rugby club kit partner, Mafro Sports, pays homage to the Heathens RFC’s historic colours of gold (yellow) and blue, with blue taking precedence this time, in reverse of their iconic home kit…” a club statement read. The blue tops are woven with a vibrant pattern of yellow and grey, running down to the shorts as well.
Heathens Bends to Banter
In the online rugby circles, various opposing fans have taken a dig at the Platinum Credit Heathens for using the same kit for both home and away, and whereas the infidels were silent, they were listening.
“The banter was a lot, Brian (Tabaruka) reached out about a new away kit and here we are, the brand and the team needed it.” noted Mr. Martin Muchimuti, who is the finance Director of Platinum Credit but also an ardent Heathens RFC fan.
The evergreen club captain, Micheal Wokorach, who headlines the shirt unveiling promo video alongside legendary Ugandan rapper Navio, also hinted that the banter was loud and clear, now the keyboard warriors have nothing to say. He also added, “This kit is going to give us so much motivation going into the Kyadondo Derby, but also for the rest of the season.” He also thanked all the stakeholders.
Stallions And Officials Bag Threads
The writer’s biggest winner for the day was Stallions RFC, the feeder side to Heathens. The predominantly development side, that has been playing as Heathens II this season, were playing with a pre-covid threadbare old Heathens kit. They are now going to spot a classy green kit, also supplied by Mafro Sports.
Mr. Charles Waiswa, a representative from Mafro noted that, “We are committed to this journey with you (Heathens) and we are proud that you chose us. The club was very involved in the process and design.” The lead designer on this project was Mr. Ivan Turyatunga.
Heathens RFC’s technical team and coaching staff shall also be donned in new kit, henceforth. Ms. Asha Kalanzi, who is the club chairperson also moved a vote of thanks to their sponsors, Platinum Credit Limited, and called upon the media and general public to support this cause.
The new Heathens RFC away Kit is currently going for 150,000 UgShs, an offer that is valid for only two weeks from announcement.
