Bul FC and Future FC go head-to-head at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende in an eagerly anticipated encounter in the CAF Confederations Cup First Preliminary Round on Sunday.
Bul FC will be making their maiden appearance at the continental stage in the second biggest inter-clubs football competition on the continent.
The East and North African sides will meet for the first time in the competition, with a place in the next round of the coveted competition at stake.
The hosts recently lost 1-0 to Rwanda’s Kiyovu FC courtesy of Erisa Keith Ssekisambu’s 84th minute goal in a friendly match. However, head coach Alex Isabirye has a full squad at his disposal ahead of Sunday’s encounter.
Bul FC completed last season on a high having won the Uganda Cup and finishing in the top four in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. Meanwhile Future FC finished fifth in the Egyptian Premier League.
The Egyptian side jetted into Uganda on Monday 5 September, and are currently residing at Sheraton Hotel Kampala. Future FC are also debutants at this stage and their qualification to play at the preliminary qualification round was through a nomination by Egyptian Football Association.

About CAF Confederations Cup
The CAF Confederation Cup, known as the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup is an annual association football club competition established in 2004 from a merger of the CAF Cup and the African Cup Winners’ Cup and organized by CAF.
Clubs qualify for the competition based on their performance in their national leagues and cup competitions. It is the second-tier competition of African club football, ranking below the CAF Champions League.
The winner of the tournament faces the winner of the aforementioned competition in the following season’s CAF Super Cup.
Moroccan club Renaissance Sportive de Berkane are the current champions of the CAF Confederations Cup having won the 2021/22 edition. Sportive also won the 2019/20 cup and were runner-up of the CAF Super Cup in 2021.
