Proline FC Relegated: “We will revitalize and come back stronger,”
Mujib Kasule’s Proline has been relegated to the third tier (Regional League) of the Ugandan Men Football League after finishing third from the bottom.
Other clubs that went down the drain together with Proline include Myda FC and Nyamityabora FC.
The club has issued a statement expressing disappointment with a promise to bounce back stronger.
“It’s a disappointing day in Proline Football Club timeline because we have been relegated to the Regional League today,” the letter stated.
“Like all other relegations we have faced in our young life, it hurts, it’s disappointing, but not doomsday.
Our main objectives are still to develop well-adjusted footballers and improve the game in Uganda. We will remain steadfast in our quest to do just that, regardless of the division we are playing.
The season was full of challenges and misfortunes and has ended this way because we couldn’t put enough points on board.
A big gratitude and thanks to every fan and well-wisher that has endured all these topsy turvy moments with us,” the statement concluded.
Proline, founded in 2006, was promoted to the top flight Uganda Premier League in 2007. The team played seven seasons in the Uganda Premier League before being relegated during 2013-14 season after the club finished 15th. Proline earned promotion back to the top flight in 2016 after beating Sporting United 4-1 in the deciding match.
Proline was for the second time relegated from the Uganda Premier League during 2017-18 season. The club would then bounce back the following season (2018–19), winning the Elgon group of the FUFA Big League on the final matchday to clinch promotion and then two weeks later winning the 2018–19 Uganda Cup on penalties as a lower division side.
