The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has banned referee Nkurunziza George from active football for violation of Articles 41 (Manipulation of football matches or competitions or match statistics), Article 24(3) (General Duties) and Article 42 (Failure to report) of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code.
Nkurunziza, who confirmed his retirement from active refereeing earlier today, will not participate in any kind of football-related activity at the national level (administrative, sports, or any other) for ten (10) years, starting today.

“Hope this message finds you well, I write this to inform that from this day I resign from a active refereeing. First of all I would wish to thank the almighty God who has blessed me up to today and my family for the tremendous support, I also thank the FA for the technical support it has been imparting into me.
“My special thanks go out to some instructors and some referees who have supported me through my 9year journey to the supporters and well-wishers from the football fraternity may God bless you.” Nkurunziza stated.

FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee Statement
“The FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has found referee Mr. Nkurunziza George guilty of violation of Articles 41 (Manipulation of football matches or competitions or match statistics), Article 24(3) (General Duties) and Article 42 (Failure to report) of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code.
The Committee analysed and evaluated the evidence on file and the defense put forward by Mr. Nkurunziza and found that he was involved in influencing the results of matches for betting purposes in violation of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code.

Mr. Nkurunziza George is hereby banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at the national level (administrative, sports or any other) for a period of ten (10) years, as of notification of this decision.
Only the grounds of the decision can be appealed against.”
