The TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup kicks off today at 4pm EAT with two matches.
RS Berkane of Morocco are the current defending Champions after beating Orlando Pirates by penalties in the 2022 final.
The winner of this trophy is given US $1.25 million and the runner-up takes home US $625,000.
This year’s competition has the following teams TP Mazembe, Motema Pembe, St Eloi Lupopo, Pyramids, Future FC, Marumo Gallants, Al Akhdar, Real Bamako, ASEC Mimosas, Diables Noirs, Rivers United, Kara, Monastir, Young Africans, FAR Rabat and USM Alger.
TP Mazembe welcome Mali’s Real Bamako in their first group game in this campaign. This will be the first time these two teams will play against each other.
Young Africans traveled to Tunisia for their first away game of Group D against Monastir. Stade Mustapha Ben Jannet stadium will host the game at 7pm EAT.
Uganda Cranes player Khalid Aucho traveled with the team to Tunisia.
Marumo Gallants welcome Al Akhdar at Thohoyandou Stadium. The game will played at 4pm EAT.
Coach Thoka had something to say after their draw with AmaZulu in the Dstv Premiership as they prepare for today’s game.
ASEC Mimosas will play against Motema Pembe from DRC, they are in Group B with Diables Noirs and Nigeria’s River United.
They are currently on top of the Ivory Coast Ligue 1 table with 35 points having played 17 matches.
Motema Pembe are currently 8th in the DRC Ligue 1 with 11 points. 23 players traveled to Abidjan, Ivory Coast to play against ASEC Mimosas.
In Group C, Pyramids welcome FAR Rabat of Morocco in their first group encounter.
Pyramids FC coach Pacheco had something to say ahead of their CAF Confederations Cup game against Rabat.
” The FAR Match at the start of the group stage of the Confederations Cup is very important, as it comes at the beginning of this difficult round and the beginning is always difficult, and winning puts the team at the top early and gives a message to other teams that Pyramids is playing for the Championship. “
USM Alger host St Eloi Lupopo from DR Congo at Stade Omar Hammadi, Algeria. They are in Group A with the likes of Marumo Gallants and Al Akhdar.
USM Alger coach Abdul Haq Bin Sheikha said that his team has the determination to win the game.
