UCU Lady Cardinals have advanced to the semi-finals after a 1-0 victory against Olila High School in the final match of the group fixtures. This win puts the Lady Cardinals at the top of the table with 9 points, one point above Lady Doves who qualified on Friday.
Outstanding defender Shadia Nankya scored the lone goal in the highly anticipated match against Olila with a thunderous free-kick, 40 yards from the goal pushing her team through to the semi-final playoffs.
The defender has had an exceptional display throughout the tournament with 2 goals to her name, one of which turned out to be a very important one for the team.
The Cardinals may not have been at their best however they were able to get past Olila in the determinant game to secure their place in the playoffs.
UCU, She Corporates and Olila High school all had an opportunity to advance to the semi-finals as they played their final group games of the tournament today. Despite She Corporates’ 5-0 win against Isra Soccer Academy, their goalless draw against Lady Doves earlier on Friday places them in third place behind UCU Lady Cardinals (1st Place) and the Lady Doves (2nd Place).
UCU will take on Uganda Martyrs in the Semi-finals while Lady Doves face Kawempe Muslim.
Lady Doves Fazila Ikwaput tops the Group B top scorers list with 7 goals while UCU Lady Cardinal’s Hasifa Nassuna comes in behind her with 3 goals.
