URA extend table lead with historic win against Mbarara

URA football club extended their lead at the top of the table with a comfortable win against Mbarara city on Tuesday evening at Arena of visions, Bombo.

Left-back Brian Majwega opened the scoring from the spot in the 9th minute after Ojera was brought down in the box.

They doubled their lead in the second half through skipper Shafiq Kagimu who who slotted home beautifully after substitute Sserubiri Ivan set him up.

The tax collectors almost added the third after Ojera worked out from the right and whipped in the ball at the far post, and Dada Ibrahim’s header was deflected for a corner.

There was not much action from Mbarara side whose real chance came in the 35th minute when Okwalinga tried to shoot from a distance but his shot went wide.

The win ensured URA’s first league win against Mbarara city after their previous encounters ended in draws.

The tax collectors also extended their lead at the top of the table by four points, leaving Vipers SC asking more questions than giving answers.

In the other games of the day, Airtel Kitara earned a 4-2 win against relegation threatened Kyetume Fc who got a red card, Busoga United played a goalless draw against army side UPDF, and SC Villa played a one all draw at home against Jinja side Bul.
