Victoria Pearls go down fighting against Capricorn Eagles of Namibia |Tri-series
The Capricorn Eagles of Namibia came to this game with already a win over the lady Chevrons and looked strong to pick another win to make it two in two.
The Victoria Pearls won the toss and decided to field first against the Namibia women.
The Capricorn Eagles of Namibia had a fair good start to their partnership of Sune Wittmann and Jurriene Diergaardt before Anyipo Evelyne gave them hard times picking three major wickets that disorganized their batting order in her third bowling over.
Jurriene Diergaardt’s 36 runs off 34 balls and Sylvia Shihepo’s 13 off 11 balls was the different to push Namibia women to a total score of 90 runs in 20 overs with a loss of 9 wickets.
In the chase, Victoria pearls had a very good start compared to their opponents but they couldn’t withstand the bowling of Sune Wittmann who picked 2 wickets to deny Uganda their first win of the series.
Kevin Awino’s 23 runs off 43 balls and Leona Babirye’s with 14 runs off 21 balls were not good enough to help Victoria pearls register a win over Namibia ladies as they fell short by 12 runs.
During the afternoon game, Victoria Pearls faced with the lady chevrons.
Both teams came to this game with no win having lost to the hosts and were eager to pick their first win of the series.
Lady Chevrons won the toss and elected to bat first against the Victoria Pearls.
The Zimbabwe ladies looked good at the start of the game despite losing their wickets in the middle of the game limiting them to a total score of 100 runs all out in 20 overs with Chipo Mugeri Tiripano being the game changer for them that saw her post 46 runs off 46 balls.
In the chase, the Victoria Pearls had a lot of work to do to chase down the required runs against the 11th ranked women side in the world.
They kept on losing wickets at a terrible rate with Janet Mbabazi putting up 21 runs off 32 balls Evelyn Anyipo also posted 17 runs off 11 balls were not good enough to give Uganda women their first win of the series as they fell short by 8 runs.
