Friday – Calvary FC defeated Kataka FC 1-0 at Midigo play ground in Yumbe to return to winning ways.

The yumbe side lost their previous game to NEC 1-0 and needed a win to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Calvary FC did not need long to take advantage of Kataka’s misfortune. In the 40th minute midfielder Andama Junior struck to give the home side the lead.

The second half brought little respite for the visitors as Calvary’s confidence and control of the game started to build.

Kataka kept up a vague, lingering threat almost until the end, but it was the hosts who had the last word as they held on to their slim lead. It wrapped up a deserved win.

Calvary push to 5th on the FUFA Big League standings with 27 points, 6 points shy of first and second placed NEC FC and Police FC respectively, who are both on 33 points.
