Monday – Government of Uganda has disbursed shs2 billion to Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) to help the national team, Uganda Cranes, prepare for the upcoming CHAN Finals.

According to the federation, part of the funds will also help in settlement of arrears accrued as a result of the team’s earlier engagements.

This comes after FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo came out to declare that Uganda withdrew from CHAN finals for lack of funds.

“Like for the U-23, we are left with no further option but to withdraw the Uganda Cranes from CHAN finals because Ministry of Finance has not provided the funds as appropriated by Parliament of Uganda…..Sorry for the players and coaches who qualified the team but it is the moment to face the reality,” Magogo tweeted.

In the current financial year, FUFA was allocated shs17 billion, but only shs4.8 billion has been received by the federation.
