FIFA Ranking: Uganda maintains it’s position as Kenya and Rwanda improve.

In the latest FIFA ranking released on April 4th, 2024, Kenya and Rwanda emerged as the two members from the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Zone showing improvement.

Uganda maintained its position at 92nd in the world with 1242.15 points, securing the top spot in the CECAFA Zone. Meanwhile, Kenya surged by four places to claim the 107th spot globally, garnering 1191.24 points and securing the second position in the Zone.

Kenya’s ascent in the rankings follows their impressive performances in recent international friendly matches, where they triumphed over hosts Malawi 4-0 and Zimbabwe 3-1, subsequently clinching victory in the 4-Nations tournament.

Similarly, Rwanda witnessed a rise in their ranking by two places, landing at 131st globally and fifth in the CECAFA Zone with 1112.44 points. Tanzania and Sudan maintained their positions at 119th and 127th place, respectively.

Burundi, ranked sixth in the CECAFA Zone, secured the 140th spot, while Ethiopia followed closely at 145th place. South Sudan slipped by one spot to 167th place, whereas Djibouti and Somalia found themselves ranked lower at 192nd and 199th, respectively. Additionally, Eritrea remained unranked.

The FIFA rankings for CECAFA members stand as follows:

  • Burundi: 140
