FUFA Drum – Northern Derby Looms as West Nile is Pitted Against Defending Champions Acholi Province
Wednesday – FUFA Drum Organizing Committee this morning conducted the draws for the semifinals of the 2022 FUFA Drum tournament at FUFA Complex.
Defending champions Acholi have been pitted against in-form West Nile while Tooro Province will play Lango.
Tooro Province will host Lango on 20th November in the first leg before the return leg on 18th December at Akii-Bua Stadium, Lira City.
In the Northern derby, West Nile will host the first leg against Acholi on 13th November with the reverse fixture slated for 10th December.
FUFA Drum Organizing Committee Chairman Rogers Byamukama said the return of the FUFA Drum has been treated to great reception, passion and excitement.
“The return of the FUFA Drum after a two-year halt has been treated to great reception, there has been passion, excitement and I believe the remaining games will offer more.” Said Byamukama.
Just like the inaugural edition, this year’s final will be played on a home and away basis. The tentative dates for the final is 7th and 14th January 2023.
About FUFA Drum
The FUFA Drum was launched in 2018 at FUFA House by FUFA President Engineer Moses Magogo following a resolution of the 93rd FUFA Ordinary General Assembly and the 13th FUFA Executive Committee directive to formulate the Competition.
The Competition is played between 16 provinces of Uganda and it is codenamed ‘The Drum’. It is run and managed by official FUFA regulations.
FUFA meets the costs of the teams in the areas of accommodation, transport, individual and team winners’ Prizes, trophies and medals plus costs of match officials including the competition and training balls.

Inaugural winners (2018)
Buganda emerged the inaugural FUFA Drum Champions after defeating West Nile 2-1 on aggregate. Buganda won the first leg 1-0 at Bishop SS playgrounds in Mukono thanks to a Viane Ssekajugo late strike. While the return leg at the Greenlight Stadium ended 1-1 with Ssekajugo canceling out Villa Oromchan goal for West Nile.
2019 winners
Acholi emerged winners shooting out Bukedi 5-3 in penalties following a barren stalemate in 90 minutes. Tito Okello, Alfred Onek, Richardson Asaba, Moses Okot, and skipper Denis Okot Oola all scored their kicks from the penalty spot for Acholi.
While Disan Galiwango, Frank Kalanda, and David “Colgate” Owori netted for Bukedi but Aaron Okoth was denied by Acholi goalkeeper Derrick Ochan.
